Geez I had to look up the date of the movie but the last time I went to the theater to see a movie was in June 2006.
Or at least I think that was the last one I saw. I wait for everything to come out on video. I dont like going to the theater.

I do Netflix
I have had Transformers sitting on my coffee table for the last week waiting to be watched.
I want to see Shrek the third. I just like Shrek. Dont give me any shit about it. LOL

The next 5 on my list of DVD's for Netflix to send me is:
1. Fido - Horror - a zombie movie comedy
2. Spiderman 3 - Action & adventure - we all know what spiderman is, I hope
3. We are Marshall - Drama - plane crash kills football team
4. Hostel II - Horror - Murder bloody gore ect.
5. Evan allmighty - Comedy - build an ark ect.

Queen, I just came across your referring to HALLOWEEN Michael as "a bit off."

ROYFL.  ....A "bit" off.

Jeeeez. What would it take for you to call someone REALLY off!!!! Or was that just some swell droillery on your part? Pass the doobie, thanks.

Oh, and for your gangster movie collection, have you checked out LAYER CAKE, a Brit one with Daniel Craig in pre-James Bond mode?

Andy--

Ok, so Michael was way more than a bit off. I just got the impression from Rob Zombie's take on it as being from a trailer trash family, mother a stripper, sister is a ho, and I'm assuming the abusive guy played by William Forsythe was his father who constantly made fun of him took it's toll. Funny the only thing he seemed to have loved at first was his mother and his baby sister whom he later tried to kill. Honestly, that is the one thing I couldn't understand about the whole series, why was he so intent on wiping his family out like that? And with that question I am going off of John Carpenter's version. Iggy, where are you when I need you? What's your take on my query?

I just saw "American Gangster" -- it was quite good, not great but a very solid and worthwhile.  I'm thinking that I may sit out Beowulf.

I have been adding up the votes on American Gangster. So far most have liked it but said it is a bit drawn out and only 2 have actually not liked it. I am still out on Beowulf though I did see it get a bad review online. The person who critiqued it said, he got tired of hearing "I AM BEOWULF" and commented on the nudity. I am a sucker for mythology and the like so I have to see it for myself.

I paid a few extra bucks to see Beowulf in 3-D.  What waste of money.  There were some cool special effects/CGI animation, but that was about it.  The constant screaming of "I AM BEOWULF!!!" got real old real fast.  I was so happy when the theater started handing out free movie passes to everyone after the show because of a few minor projection problems.  To anyone that's thinking about seeing this movie, I say save your money or at least wait for the DVD.

Has anyone seen the new Robert Redford movie "Lions for Lambs?"  I love political drama/thrillers, and I'm thinking of going to see it during the holiday weekend, but I haven't heard much about it.

I believe June 21 is the start of summer. I was hoping that this next installation of Batman would be good considering the last one was not that bad. Who is the villian in this one?

I have had Transformers sitting on my coffee table for the last week waiting to be watched.

We just watched "Transformers" and didn't think it was too bad at all.  ;D With some popcorn on a cold night of flurries - it didn't put me to sleep ;)

I finally got around to watching the "Shipping News" (Annie Proulx story starring Kevin Spacey and Julieanna Moore). The book was much better although the soundtrack was really quite lovely.

But then we re-watched "Sin City", so I'm sure to be having some weirdo dreams tonite. LOL

I thought Transformers was very well done and for once was a movie that stuck close to the theme of the cartoon. Now if only we could get a YuYu Hakisho or Inuyasha movie..... ;)

Anyone else besides me seen Lions for Lambs? Great cast, but this is going to bomb, if it hasnt already. I dont think movie go-ers are in the mood for this anti-war movie. All you have to do it turn on the evening nightly news to see the same. Except Tom, Meryl and Robert are not in the nightly news version.
Doesnt take long to see this wasnt made by anyone from the Bush Administration.  ;)

I saw Lars and The Real Girl yesterday. It is in limited release but if its near you go see it. It is pretty funny but turns into a drama halfway or so through. I can tell you I had tears running down my face twice. This is not a kids movie though some over 12 or so may understand it. I highly recommend this movie.

I saw Rendition a few weeks ago. Didn't really care for it. If you can see a matinee then maybe, but eh it isn't that good and there are a lot of subtitles which I hate. Lions for Lambs seems to be very similar and IMDB raters are only giving it about a 6.

I also saw Stardust oh I dunno, maybe 2 months ago now. It was good. Had a few very funny and unexpected scenes that I won't reveal here, but I liked it and laughed a lot.

I will be seeing something tomorrow too and I am thinking No Country for Old Men, or Before The Devil Knows You're Dead. Anyone seen either of those?

ok in all seriousness,,,

I really enjoyed No Country for Old Men. I have always like the Coen brother's movies but this one could be their best. Jarvier Braden's portrayal of the homicidal killer is deliciously creepy.

I definitely disagree about your review.  I wouldn't put it out there as one of the best films of the year, but it was worth the price of seeing it on the big screen and in 3D to me.

I was wondering where our movie critic has been. Obviously out checking out movies when he is not engaged with our resident porno star... :-* Speaking of which, where is our darling Jeromy? Though I do admit that we have seen a couple of flix as of late.  On a related note (as it is not a recent release) I can not recommend enough The Dead Girl which we recently rented:  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0783238/

I thought NO Country was pretty good but not great. Everyone gave it four stars? Broslin is a star.
This is the best West Texas has ever looked. Sort of similiar to their first film,Blood Simple, which I thought was better.
Old Country does a lot with regionalism the same way as Fargo did. I love those Texas twangs but I can't look at Tommy Lees mug for more than a few seconds. Frances McDormand would have been awesome in No Country but then she is wonderful in anything.
I went with four people in their early twenties and my 80 yr old parents. My Parents liked it best.

Transformers was good. Boys would love it. Shrek the third was ok. I got my shrek fill, dont need to buy it.
Fido was slow and stupid. I wouldn't suggest it. Spiderman 3 was good. Nothing special to say about it but it was good.
I've changed up my list on Netflix, I wasn't in the mood for a drama so I haven't gotten We are Marshall.
I'm getting Live free or die hard next. Then Rescue Dawn and or the Condemned. Which ever one they decide to send me first.

For 50 cents at Goodwill, my partner picked up a sealed VHS copy of a great movie - "Starship Troopers". It was great to watch again without having the gore (and the naked parts!) deleted like on the TV version.

Now I'm waiting on the Simpsons Movie to come to DVD. I was too stoned to remember much of it when we saw it this Summer, but I do remember laughing a lot!  ;D

I wasn't really thrilled with Spidey 1 or 2. I only want to see 3 because they introduce Venom in it. I guess it's the comic book collector in me. Yep, I use to collect X-Men (Uncanny and Classic) as well as Superman. I have always followed Batman through the years whether it be Saturday toons, the original, and the updated one. I am looking forward to The Dark Knight whenever that comes out.

I have a bootleg of Evan Almight but hasn't watched it yet. I have Bruce but wonders if Steve can touch Jim even though Steve is a funny guy. I need to watch it before I have to give it back. Has never been one of those who gets into the sports movies. I haven't even seen Gridiron Gang yet and I love The Rock. I think the last sports movie I watched was Coach Carter and that was at a friend's house. She was watching it so I had no choice.

I do want to see Hostel to simply to see if it is better than the first one. Fido, I haven't heard of and I love some zombie movies. It took me awhile to watch Shaun of the Dead but that was funny as hell. I am a sucker for Shrek. I want to get all 3 of those even though 3 was not as funny as the first 2 but likes what they did with the storyline. Wonders if there is going to be a 4.

I really want to see Spiderman 3.  Not because I'm huge into the movie franchise itself but because Venom was (in my opinion) the best villian from the comic books.  Transformers was awesome!  That said I admit I'm biased.  That was easily my favourite show growing up, I had tons of Transformer toys including all the insecticons and constructicons.  I never had Megatron or Optimus Prime though...  Hostel 2 was okay.  I'm not huge into gore/horror as a genre.  It wasn't as strong as the first movie but the actress who played Beth was really hot so that was sweet.  I rented the original cartoon movie (Transformers) not too long ago and couldn't believe what I heard.  "The Touch" performed by Dirk Diggler and Reed Rothwell in the movie Boogie Nights... hilarious!

I'm excited for Machete to come out in theatres.  I just found out it's going to be a real movie!  I'm not sure if anyone here saw Grindhouse (Deathproof/Planet Terror) but there was a "fake" preview for a movie called Machete about a this bad ass Mexican dude who with the help of a priest goes on an ass kicking rampage.  I like exploitation films and this one looks great!

Ok, what is up? Is the movie called Grindhouse or Planet Terror? I never did understand what was going on with those titles even though I have yet to see the movie. I use to follow the Transformers cartoon too. I liked all the Autobots but I couldn't help liking Starscream too. I think I heard about Machete.

Grindhouse was the feature of the two films together.  Planet Terror was the film directed by Robert Rodriguez and I felt it was the better of the two.  Death Proof was Quentin Tarantino's offering and while it was well shot, had a sexy cast and decent soundtrack it wasn't as good as Planet Terror.

I've got Live free or die hard on pause right now because Billy had to go pick someone up from the airport. But so far it is really good. Its living up to the excitement of the last 3. I look forward to seeing the rest of it.

The description for Fido was:
Fido is a typical movie about the boy next door and his pet -- except in this case the loyal "pet" is a lumbering zombie named Fido (Billy Connolly). Problems arise when he breaks loose and noshes on the next-door neighbor, forcing owner Timmy Robinson (K'Sun Ray) into damage-control mode while he tries to persuade his parents (Carrie-Anne Moss and Dylan Baker) to keep Fido in director Andrew Currie's imaginative horror-comedy.

It got some good reviews on Netflix but this Leave it to beaver meets zombie movie just didn't do it for me.  It was just too slow. Not enough excitement for me.

WOW is all I can say.  I saw The Kite Runner today. What a powerful movie. Also a wonderful book from what I have read.

You can visit the website for the soundtrack and more about the movie here

http://www.vantageguilds.com/tkr/index.html

Do not let the trailer fool you. It is a dark film about guilt and redemption. Quite good and very controversial.

If you have seen it what did you think?

Spider man 1 and 2 were pretty good.  I didn't like #3 at all.  I also loved the Pirates 1 and 2, but 3 really sucked.  I love Gladiator, Braveheart, Ever After, A Knight's Tale, Elizabeth, Shakespear in Love, and the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy.  I'm also a die hard "Die Hard" fan.  We have the first 2 "Bourne" movies.  I want to see the Ulitmatum, but it's never in the video store.  We also like Narnia.

I just went to see Juno last night, and I loved it.  Very funny and very cute.  At the end of the movie, I was reminded  of the way I felt after seeing Little Miss Sunshine for the first time:  all warm and smiley.  I highly recommend it.

Mini said she likes "Polar Express", "Charlie Brown Christmas", and "The Little Mermaid".  Oh, and Tom and Jerry and "Legend of Frosty the Snowman" and the Rudolf move...that's all.

I have yet to see Polar Express but likes anything Charlie Brown. The one where Snoopy ran away made me cry. I loved the Little Mermaid because of the crab, I forget his name, Sebastian, I think.

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story looks pretty damn hilarious.  I don't know if it'll be Superbad hilarious but most movies aren't.  I'm stoked to see it on Friday.

I know I'm late with this entry but I just saw I, Robot for the first time  (and on DVD in the privacy of my home with banging surround sound).  Nobody warned me about the beginning section with a naked Will Smith in the tub/shower. Boyfriend looked incredible!  Of course, the rest of the movie was  aiiiriiiight too!

It was great but I am a bit of sucker for SciFi... and Will Smith... and German Shepards.
Really well done with a couple of minor exceptions.

I'll have to wait until it comes out on video.  Our nearest rental place is 20 miles away!  We have a small herd of kids and don't leave them with a sitter.  We rarely (1x/yar for 5 days) go anywhere without them.

ok in all seriousness,,,

I really enjoyed No Country for Old Men. I have always like the Coen brother's movies but this one could be their best. Jarvier Braden's portrayal of the homicidal killer is deliciously creepy.

I think I will try and drag my father to see this with me after Christmas.
