Hi Tordam,

From what I know (but please consult your physician for verification), you should absolutely be able to have a baby.  Many, many poz moms have negative babies (in developed nations, it's far more likely for a woman to have a negative child than a poz one; I personally know of several), though receiving the proper treatment to try to ensure that they won't contract the virus is essential.  As for the herpes, treatment to prevent/reduce the effects of outbreaks is also important.  If you have a herpes outbreak during labor, there can be vision and other probems as the baby passes through the birth canal if s/he contracts it, so some docs will advise you to have a c-section.

It's also important to make sure you eat right, get sufficient rest, etc...whether positive or not.  Good luck to you!

Yes It is possible to have a healthy baby just as long as mom follows the doctors orders and complies with treatment.

Hi Tordam-
I am positive and have herpes and have had 4 healthy kids.  My docs followed me closely and I adhered to my meds.  My oldest was born naturally, I would have taken the drugs but he came too fast.  I had a c-section for my 3some.
Good  Luck,
Snow
