Some of the strips are lame, but usually I get a good giggle:

Mrs. Obama looks great, I'm sure Barack always knows the right answer to this question.

Hehe... the Obama ones are really funny, but the one I don't get is where Michelle is painting him over... has he been accused of being "too white"?

Wow, some of this seems a lot more racist than the "________ Queen" comments in that other thread.

Yes, particularly the post directly above yours. I find those cartoons to be particularly offensive and not really funny at all. Simpleguy, please take note. I'm sure I'm not the only one who found them offensive.

I'd like to remind people that the ONLY reason we still have these forums up and running is the ads that appear on these pages. Like it or not, they keep us going. They pay our bills.

We all need to keep that in mind when posting - particularly when posting "jokes" of a racist nature. Many ad companies do not want to be associated with that sort of crap and for good reason.

Just a "heads-up".

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

All I can say is this...

A few potential advertisers haven't taken too kindly to some of the content in the Off Topic forum -- the porn thread(s), some of the language, etc. Granted, if these advertisers feel this way, I don't know if I even want them on POZ or AIDSmeds. But the issue has been discussed internally by Smart + Strong management and one possibility is that I will be asked to shut down the Off Topic Forum.

I don't think anyone wants this -- I don't. So think before you start a new thread, or post in an existing thread, with comments or content that will potentially paint these Forums in bad light.

These are your Forums. It's up to you guys to use good judgment to protect them.

Honestly, I never gave a thought to the advertiser's feelings. We cross the line of good taste and decorum with such frequency I'm not surprised they are displeased. Still, with all our ailments, the pharmaceutical companies must realize they are shooting fish in a barrel.

Wow - sorry, I never looked at it that way.

These comics were also published in one of the leading newspaper in Denmark that's considered social democrat supporters. The comics are politically incorrect -often an element of danish humor- but they've never been an issue in my home country (e.g. censorship from the editor in charge). I realize now they were posted out of context which I apologize for, but rest assured I never posted them to hurt anyone.

I guess certain subjects are sensitive if set in the context of american culture. Didn't think that one through.

Lesson learned. Peace out! ;o)
I won't post any more material of this sort.

Hey Tim,

I think you should post this information in its own thread, so everyone can be aware of this issue.  I doubt that many members really understand who funds and supports these forums and how our actions can be detrimental to the very forums we cherish.  It would also serve as an "official" reminder of the decorum that is expected within the forums.

Totally was unaware that they were aware of what actually goes on in the forums at all.  Although the counter to that is aren't we the people they are advertising toward?
