Hi All
8 weeks ago I had oral sex with a prostitute I was wearing a condom. I also fingered her then noticed 2 open wounds(not bleeding) on my finger.
The next day and still today I've had every possible symptom... thrush, fever, nausea, rash, night sweats, discolored fingernails, herpes 1 outbreak, sore throat, swollen (and painful) armpit glands.
I had 4 negatives 1,2,4 and 6.5 weeks.
I had a vdrl done at 4 weeks (I actually prayed for a positive) all negative except for herpes simplex...which I already new about.
My question is... how much should I trust this 6 week mark?
What could possibly explain all these symptoms?

You didn't have a risk. Your symptoms have nothing to do with hiv. If they continue, see your doctor.

We absolutely cannot tell you what is causing your symptoms. What we can with some authority tell you is they have nothing to do with HIV. HIV is a fragile virus and one that is not easily transmitted.
Please read the lesson on Transmission if you haven't already done so. The link to it is in the welcome thread which opens this section.
I don't see any need for further HIV testing. Just discuss with your doctor what might be causing those symptoms. It's not HIV. Really.

You were not at risk for HIV transmission during the incident you are concerned about. You don't seem to be wanting to accept that reality.
Would you be worrying this much if you had been with a non-professional? Sometimes it seems people worry more thinking because someone is a sex worker they are automatically riskier. It's activities that are risky, no whom you are with. And you were not at risk from the things you described.
Sorry, but I can't even understand what you're asking in your second question.
The bottom line is you were not at risk and no testing is/was necessary. You need to get over this totally unwarranted concern about HIV.
By the way, have you taken the time to read the lesson on transmission which you can find through the Welcome thread which begins this section? That would be a better use of your time and energy.

The coincidence of so many symptoms is a little much...I've been listening to my body for 39 years and it is definately telling me something.
I accept the blowjob was no risk
I accept the fingering was no risk but the 2 small non-bleeding wounds is scaring me. A high viral load might explain the symptoms.
24 hrs after the incident I developed thrush and went to the emergency ward and begged for pep. The attending phys gave me nystatin, trikicide, over the counter b vitamin and melatonin as i couldn't sleep and a ton of attitude.
San Fran Aids holine said "no risk" plus the pep will make you sick....go figure I was sick as a dog without it. Every hotline I've called gives me the same textbook answer.
With 40 mil pos people why can't anyone give me the odds of going positive after 6.5 weeks. Surely someone has the number?
Sorry but I'm scared as hell. My whole life has been hijacked and put on hold.

You can stop with the drama and the pity me. You didn't have a risk and that is all there is to it.

Go get yourself some professional help. You have no basis in HIV science for concern about infection in relation to getting a blowjob. Really.
So stop with this drama and wanting to quantify stats that have no meaning. You're not getting answers because you're not addressing the real problem. Check the physical stuff out with your doctor. Much of it sounds stress-related to me.
Then you need to talk with a therapist or other professional about what's driving this situation emotionally. We can't help you with that here.

You guys really need to work on your bedside manners..... I came here to talk about hiv as I can't talk about it with anyone else. I think whatifs are perfectly good questions in this forum.
I may sound a little dramatic but I've never been this close to incurable, life altering disease before. I not interested in your pity...just answers....I ask the questions and you answer...Isn't that how it works?
Anyhow, I'm going to take my 63 day home access test Thursday...The h/a kits says hiv-1. What if I have hiv-2? Rare I know but my exposure was from a crack head whore in the carib. Is this test good enough?

I am really feeling great right now for the first time in 9 weeks. I just got my 9 week negative!! Although I still think I might in a small way be infected your dry facts of "no risk" and "seek mental help" really did help me get through the last few weeks.
