Oppurtunistic Infections and CD4 number

Also you may add when it was happening , and maybe some additional reasons/clues ...........( food infection , lack of hygiene , etc, etc)
More of us who vote - clear the picture.....................

Hi Al

Please let me know if we can change our vote. I voted 0 with <200. I had wasting, diarreah, lots of congestion and extreme weakness at 42 CD4

The extreme weakness landed me in the emergency room on August 31, 2005, where they gave me intravenous fluids

I had shingles and a systemic yeast infection are those considered OI's?

I think yes but go through lessons in this site and also in some other reliable ones just to be sure..............

oh - thanks for taking the time to look. :)

I used your link and found two more that I had/have. OHI and peripheral neuropathy.

I have had a few OI's . Went through wasting syndrome back throughtout 2003,( 30 pound weight drop) Shingles, PN, Bacterial pneumonia., Candiasis, mild molluscum.


These conditions occurred when I had my aids diagnosis, 16-t-cells) had nothing to do with food contamination of poor hygeine.

Current Meds ; Viramune / Epzicom Eliquis, Diltiazem. Pravastatin 80mg, Ezetimibe. UPDATED 2/18/24
 Tested positive in 1985,.. In October of 2003, My t-cell count was 16, Viral load was over 500,000, Percentage at that time was 5%. I started on  HAART on October 24th, 2003.

 UPDATED: As of April, 2nd 2024,Viral load Undetectable.
CD 4 @593 /  CD4 % @ 18 %

Lymphocytes,total-3305 (within range)

cd4/cd8 ratio -0.31

cd8 %-57

I had candida in the mouth and PCP. But I had lots of the shits and wasting. But I guess that would make two diagnosed OIs.

Began sustiva truvada 01/04/07
newest labs  drawn on 01/15/07  vl 1,100    cd4 119    7%
Drawn 02/10/07
cd4=160 viral load= 131 percentage= 8%
New labs 3/10/07 (two months on sustiva truvada
cd4 count 292  percentage 14 viral load undetectable
