a week ago I had a sore throat which went away after 4 days, and I am now experiencing slight head ackes and some light abdominal pain on the left hand side.

Hi Jimmy . I moved your post into your own thread . Only post in this one thread , if you have trouble finding your thread you can go to your profile and select show own post and it will take you here .

The sex you had was protected with a condom so you did not have a risk in the situation you described .

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME for the incident you described , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

thanks for your reply Jeff
so you don't think that their is a risk of any vaginal fluid going into the open wound and causing an infection because these symptoms seemed very coincidental that they where all happening around the times that they where suppose in the case of an infection. also since the last post I have noticed an inching and redness with a couple of small bumps on my wrist this is just making me even more worried.
and if their is any symptoms which I should look out for which you could share with me I would be very grateful.

Jimmy, unfortunately once you are in a worried mindstate about HIV everything becomes a cause for concern. But HIV is a fragile virus and is not transmittable in a viable form in the manner you're concerned about. Really.

If your symptoms persist you should discuss them with a doctor. HIV is not the cause of...

Hepatitis is much more easily transmitted than HIV but its not possible to assess the transmission risk for any incident with certainty . That's why we encourage testing for all stds for all sexually active people . The only way to know your status is to test at the appropriate time for ALL stds .
