HIV Postive and have HPV
« on: April 05, 2012, 01:52:24 pm »
Went to my Doctor yesterday and he finally did a new pap (old doctor told me I have 14 different types of HPV but none Cancers) he also did an anal pap first time for me. My blood work came back as CD4 135 and viral load as 23 which is a lot better then back in January which it was CD4 85 viral load of 95,000 taking Atripula. Now I am stressing on the results from the new paps to come back. If anyone else has dealt with these issues I would love to here from you and your experiences please. Thanks for helping me out.

badbaby1971,

Try not to stress to much about it, I know it's easier said then done. :)

I was diagnosed with AIDS last year and 2 months after that had a pap that came back abnormal, like you I had different types of HPV, (I never knew there were different types until then.)  Both my Ob/Gyn Dr. and my ID Dr. have said that as CD4 goes up the HPV should get better.

I now have a pap every 6 months and will continue to until my CD4 hits 200 and either stays there or goes above it for 6 months.  My ob/gyn Dr. says that as long as it looks like it's getting better and not worse he is inclined not to do much.

Their theory is that my Truvada, Isentress, Bactrim and Zithromax are all doing their jobs like their supposed to.  Yes the two doctors talk to each other.   my Ob/Gyn is recommended by my ID Dr. because a lot of his patients have HIV/AIDS and/or Hep C.

My CD4 is taking it's good old time in moving up; I go to ID Dr. in two weeks if I am at 100 I will be celebrating.

Keep us updated.

I really still don't understand much about them. What if the anal smear comes back and there is hpv present how serious is it if anyone knows please let me know K? Also can our body's get rid of hpv like someone who doesn't have HIV or aides? I have been reading many diffrent things and I figured if anybody can tell me it would be you guys so please help me out and let me know k. Thanks and love to all.

Waiting for test results is going to drive me insane. I can't seem to stop thinking about them. I know or at least I keep telling myself that if something was wrong my Doctor would call me. This HPV thing as me scared and I really don't know why because my old Doctor told me that the strains of HPV aren't cancerous but that was before we new that I had aides. My new doctor doesn't seem to worried so why am I so worried. Thanks for listening again to all this.
