Title: Results of the Court Hearing
Post by: anniebc on August 14, 2007, 11:11:00 pm
Hi everyone

Just wanted to let you all know how things went in Court today.

illegal disposal of toxic plants....$1000
Trespassing ..........................$1000
Threating behavour................$1500

Bound over for a period of two years on a good behavouir bond..he was also ordered to pay for our Vet Bills and Court fees.

RSPCA charge..Cruelty to animals...$3000, and bound over for a two year on a good behavouir bond.

He showed no emotions at all in court and said very little..in fact he only looked like half the man I fronted up to several days ago.

We are more than happy with the outcome and can now forget about him and his kind.

The really good news is Jack is on his feet, out in the paddock and eating with the reat of the goats..it was a hard 6 days but we did it.

I miss Jacob every day..just a little reminder to show you what a beautiful little boy he was..and what a character he was, just look at the false smile he gave us just so we shut up and put the camera away.... :D

A final thanks to you all and for your support, it helped us get through a very hard time.

Hugs
Jan :-*

An excellent outcome Janno. Those thousands of dollars should hit the dumb fucker where he lives.

And good news about Jack-goat as well babe. :-*

Yea!  That is a good outcome, and it was quick, too.  I'm sure he'll just pretend you don't exist now, which is probably just how you'd like it.  I'm glad the others are doing well, but it does suck about Jacob.  Most importantly, it's over.  Take care.

Glad they nailed the bastard but what is this good behavior thing? What if the bastard acts right, he doesn't have to pay? Never heard of that. I am glad that Jack is ok but still sad about Jacob. Are you going to get another goat? If you do maybe you can name him Jacob in memory of the original or would that be too painful? I am happy for you.

Hi Queen

He still has to pay all the fines, he has two months in which to settle up and pay them.

The  2 year good behaviour Bond means if he dumps toxic plants on grazing farm land, trespasses on my property or threatens us in any way within the next 2 years he will be brought before the courts again with more fines and/or a 2 month prison sentence.

Hope that explains things for you.

Yes, it does Jan. Thanks for explaining but I think even if he does break any of the rules a 2 month bid in jail is still not long enough for that sick bastard.

Kiwi justice rocks! ;D It's really swift too; if that happened here, it would be a couple months at least before it went before the court.

I'm glad the rest of the kids are ok now - although it's so very sad about Jacob. Concentrate on the happy memories, Jan, he wouldn't want you to be sad.

Hugs,
Ann

Jan,

That is wonderful news.  I thought the same thing Queen did about the good behaviour thing and glad you explained it - that is even better news!

Kiwi justice rocks! ;D It's really swift too; if that happened here, it would be a couple months at least before it went before the court.

Hell - if it happened in the U.S. it might be years and I doubt the fines would have been so much.

I am sorry that you did lose Jacob, but I am glad that the person animal who did this to him was made to answer for it.

Jan my day just started but this makes me so happy. It sounds like your courts work. Here this would have dragged on forever. I think the dickhead should have been  thrown in jail so he could have been raped in prison for his wrongs but the fines and probation seem fair enough.

So happy to hear Jack is back on his feet.

I would have been even happier if he'd been ordered to eat a barrel full of the leaves himself or anything else that would have worked on him. Failing that you did amazingly all around, Jan! I hope this nightmare happening begins to fade and you can soon get back to enjoying that special loving farm home of yours.

Hugs,

Swift justice indeed! I'm with Andy.......he should be forced to comsume a barrel of those leaves..........leaving him sick as he's ever dreamed of being......then the hefty fines.
Yes, some hefty fines. I can only hope the community at-large shuns him, as well.
Time to move on. Never forget who he is, sweet lady.
So looking foward to meeting you at AMG. Soon, too!

That's great news honey.    Still, I'd keep an eye out for him, and be wary.
You stay safe, that's the main thing.

Love & hugs,

Indeed. This was what I was thinking. He may be a coward, but he's now a disgraced coward many thousands poorer. I'd get a new lock.

I don't get on or post much these days.  But I read the initial post a few days ago and literally sat at my computer and cried.

I'm sorry you had to deal with this, and to me that isn't punishment enough. But BRAVA to you for handling this matter... Stupid dickcheese.

Hi

Thanks for your post Danny, it's good to see you back in the forums.

Believe me I was just as surprised as you guys it came up so quick, I thought I would have to wait and go to the courts in the City.

About 20+ years ago a justice committee was set up here in the community to take the slack off the City courts because most of the crime around here at that time was petty theft, drunken behaviour, etc, etc...that's when it was a thriving little community and both the Meat works and the paper mills were still open and there was plenty of employment..only the Meat works are operating now, but a lot of people moved away, we are down to about 800 residents...but they kept the Justice committee going.

A Justice of the Peace was appointed by the court to sit in and oversee the petty crimes court locally.

The court is open and  held every Wednesday by the J.P and a panel of 4, and housed in a small building at the back of the police station...I was told the most they have on any given Wednesday is around 4/5 cases, and that's on a busy day...it works on a basis of "No cases..no Court"...the J.P and the panel member are all part timers, and 3 of them, including the J.P own and run working farmers on the outskirts of the city.

We were the second case out of 3 that day...the first one was a young who got drunk and stole a motor bike before landing in the Mataura River...big time crime in these parts you know.. ;).

Anyway so that's why it was heard so quick, if we had to go to the City court it would have been a couple of months for sure.

I don't think we will be hearing much from this man...the community are keeping there eyes open, and I think he is too much of a coward to mess with them.

Hugs to you all
Jan :-*

Good news Jan!
Really hope this sinks in with him.
But, I'd keep an eye on him. Some people are just nutz. Nothing matters to them.
Lets hope he just moves away with his tail between his legs.
