Another med change, well kinda.
« on: May 18, 2014, 04:13:43 am »
I noticed that Intellence was available in a 200 mg pill and asked my doctor to switch me to that instead of taking 2 100mg pills.  That would reduce the number of pills each day by 2.  WHOOT!  Well, I thought so anyways.

I rec'd the new pills Friday and they are freaking huge.  I've been able to swallow (hold the jokes   ;D) a mouthful of pills without liquids but these huge SOB's barely go down with an entire glass of water.

I also recently rec'd my latest labs and after all this scratching and clawing has paid off.  Well into my 600's, UD and I look beyond excellent on paper.  Every single one of my results were optimal.  Pretty much dead center on all the ranges.  Even my electrolytes have finally risen to normal ranges.

Gained 2 pounds since the last dr's visit 4 months ago and am not even stressing too badly about it since we still have a few weeks before waxing and bikini season.   ;D

I was quite happy with these results as I thought for sure I'd see some negative results from the recent copious amounts of stress that I'm dealing with.

Sorry I've not been present too much of late but most of you all have been in my thoughts.

Intelence/Truvada is my favorite combo to date . I have zero side effects from it and since I went onto the combo already undetectable I am able to take my meds at dinner and not do the twice a day dosing . The pills are big and chalky, I can take a handful of pills at a time but not these as they have a tendency to stick if you don't take them carefully . I once popped one in my mouth and took a drink of hot coffee to wash it down with and the already huge pill instantly puffed up ad big as a cotton ball and I had no choice but to start chewing and swallowing ... nasty .

I learned to never take meds with coffee the first time I had them dissolve before I could swallow them...nasty.  I'm assuming you also take the 200mg version instead of 2 100mg tabs?

I take Intelence, Truvada, Norvir and Prezista in the morning and then another 200mg of Intelence in the evening.  I've kept questioning whether it's safe to eliminate the evening dosing but my doctor is leery.  Is it possible my resistance is much worse which necessitates it?  Something to think about.  I'm 100% compliant in the morning and only about 60% in the evening.  That's on purpose.  My constitution doesn't agree with me if I mix cocktails with the meds.  CAVEAT:  I do NOT recommend this course of action for others, it's just my own dosing decision.

I'm am ever so grateful for the change to Norvir and Prezista.  I eliminated the Isentress and have seen profound improvement.  Almost immediately, my severe insomnia ceased.  I actually slept too much for a while.  It also wasn't until after I stopped taking that drug that I realized that it also had a depressive effect on me.  I wouldn't necessarily call it depression but more of a mild form of constant sadness.

I was reluctant to mention this as I don't want people to immediately think that Isentress will automatically cause these symptoms.  I might just be the lucky 2 - 4 % who did.

OH, and I'm up to having 2 meals a days.   ;D  I even stopped recording every calorie.  A food journal is so daunting anyways.  The last pair of jeans I purchased were from the boy's department and it jiggled my brain a bit.  No grown ass man should fit into a boy's size 18.  I even had a piece of bacon recently.

I only take Truvada and Intelence so I bet its the resistance issues that makes your doctor cautious . Congrats on the progress on eating healthier ... I was worried about you .
