Stick,

You joined the old forums a year ago and you keep asking the same type of blood questions. You should know the answers by now.

It seems to me that you are dealing more with a blood/hiv phobia than anything, and we cannot help you with that here. You would be doing yourself a big favour by seeking out some face-to-face help from a counselor or therapist. Your GP/PCP can give you a referral. There's nothing more we can do for you here.

Stick,

Yes and yes. You didn't have a risk by any stretch of the imagination.

I really don't think your therapist would want you visiting this site or any other hiv site on the internet. You really aren't doing yourself any favours hanging out here. Good luck dealing with your anxieties.

sorry I'm back, dr. bob frascino said which i have read that this could be a LOW risk not NO risk. why would a highly respected expert and doctor say this, who is also hiv positive say this is a low risk from casual contact in some of his responses that other people have written in with their problems.

Are you really expecting me to say something different than you have already heard from Ann and Rod? They have adequately and accurately responded to your latest concern.

Dr. Francino is entitled to his opinion. As far as I am concerned he's talking about a "theoretical risk," something that theoretically could happen, but that in the real world of HIV as we know doesn't happen. If HIV was that easily transferrable we would have known it long before today and it would be a far worse epidemic than it tragically already is.

You're worrying needlessly as I suspect you realize at times.

would there be any difference in my scenario if the person had a high viral load or had full blown AIDS?

Stick,

NO. You didn't have a risk by any stretch of the imagination no matter what the viral load or aids status.

I really don't think your therapist would want you visiting this site or any other hiv site on the internet. You really aren't doing yourself any favours hanging out here. Good luck dealing with your anxieties.

Keep posting about this no risk situation and you will be given a time out to encourage you to concentrate on your therapy sessions. Please consider yourself warned.

Hii , I've been talking to my therapist , also a doctor who says he up to date with HIV/AIDS, kept on saying dont worry about little things that are low risks. its seems like every time I talk to a professional, they come up with these low risks instead of no risks. I explained my situations to him. he still kept calling it small risks through my sessions. now I'm starting to get anxieties again from the info from him.Why does he talk like this if it wasnt true?

As you have repeatedly been told. You do not contract HIV off of environmental surfaces.

"Why does he talk like this if it wasnt true?" Why don't you ask him instead of us? We can't account for what someone else tells you. We can only tell you what we know with confidence.

You don't have to believe us. You can twist and turn and torture yourself as much as you want to. We give you information the best we know how. Whether you choose to accept it and get on with your life is totally up to you.

Stick,

The advice we give here at AIDSMEDS is grounded in the same science and common sense as the information provided in the AIDSMEDS lessons. All of that is reviewed and edited by medical professionals and scientists who specialise in HIV.

Stick,

You can find a therapist who is clued up on hiv, or maybe you can direct your current one to this website.

And I'll repeat what you already know - hiv is NOT transmitted via environmental surfaces. No way, no how.

hi my old thread was archived. i was in the hospital for tendinitis from work and i have chapped hands, a doctor checked my tendinitis out, he had a cut on the inside of his thumb nail with blood. i reported him for not using universal precautions. i am not sure if some blood got in to my cuts when he was inspecting me. he was observing other patients before me not knowing if he washed his hands or not because the ER was busy.do i need to worry about hiv /hep c ? i also saw my regular physician after,he said there's nothing to worry about but the doctor should practice proper procedures. maybe my anxiety is just building up again.could somebody respond?

Stick, shmick. Keep all of your entries in this same thread. I have merged your latest non-risk thread into your previous ones. And no, you weren't at risk for transmission in this latest very far-fetched scenario that you're working your nerves over.

HIV is a fragile virus that is transmitted in very specific and limited ways -- none of which are in any way like your latest story.

As Ann told you the last time you were here you ought to have learned enough to know what's a risk and what isn't. Re-read the lesson on Transmission.

And if you can't let go of this latest unwarranted worry then see a counselor to discuss why you're inclined to come up with obscure reasons to worry about HIV.

blood test contamination
« Reply #20 on: November 03, 2011, 07:23:21 pm »
Hi, I went to get a blood test for a physical and the nurse did not wash her hands before she drew blood from me. She put her contaminated fingers which COULD of had blood on them and placed her fingers on my vein of my arm exactly the place where the needle would be put into me. My question is if she had some blood on her fingers then put them exactly on my arm where the needle was going to stick me to draw the blood. Can a person get HIV this way by the blood she had on her fingers then onto my arm then have the needle push the blood on my arm into my vein.

The answer to all your question is a definite NO!!

Please read the lessons here and educate yourself on how HIV is and is not transmitted

I've merged your threads here. It's a rule of the site that members write using only one thread for all entries.

We're not going to do another round with you about what ifs and your totally unfounded fears of contamination through blood.

Get yourself some professonal help with your phobia. We can't address that in this setting.

You now have a 28 day Time Out from the site. Don't try to get around it by creating another name. We'll spot that right off and it will get you banned permanently.

You have a problem but it is not with HIV. Get yourself some help.
