Can You Transmist HIV Through Giving Oral Sex?
« on: January 14, 2008, 10:44:15 am »
Hey, everyone!
i've used protection with every girl that I"ve been with.  Only 1 I didn't and she swore up and down and still to this day says she was tested right before we met, so we didn't use protection.  anywyas....never any symptoms or reason to think of anything...was with her for about a year also. anyways, we broke up and i'm with someone new and she just wants me to take the test, just to take it...sure, i have no problem doing so.....only question is....this morning i woke up with a the stomach virus that she and her daughters had last week....i was throwing up, achy body, etc.....now, 6 hours later, i'm feeling A LOT better...BUT, is it still okay to take the test and send the results in or should i wait since I have this darn problem today to wait, as it may skew the results?  i don't have anthing to worry about, but after spending 60 bux on a kit, i want it to be right! :-)

thanks in advance!!

ww,

Having a cold or tummy bug will not make the slightest bit of difference to your hiv test. All that matters is you are taking it three months or more after your last unprotected encounter. Only a three month (or more) test is conclusive.

If you and the new girlfriend are thinking of not using condoms after your result comes back, she needs to test first as well. You should also both get a complete STI panel done - the other STIs are MUCH more easily transmitted than hiv and they don't always have symptoms either.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

That's good about your happy result. However, I just want to be clear that you did the test at 13 weeks or more past the last unprotected incident, correct?

OK. Good luck. Odds are way in your favor that you'll test negative. Just make sure you avoid this kind of risk and worry again in the future by always using a condom for intercourse.

worry,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Going down on a woman is NOT a risk for hiv infection.

People who are hiv positive cannot transmit the virus by giving oral to either men or women. I can't imagine why you are worried about this particular aspect of giving oral sex, as it has already been established that YOU ARE HIV NEGATIVE!
