LOL me too, but mine's already taken! ;D

I just had to post this video here; it's one of the few that's had me actually laughing out loud. I stopped just short of rolling around on the floor - but mainly because my collection of (as of yet) empty cardboard boxes is in the way! (I'll get packed and moved one of these days... ::) )

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I have no problem giving my cat a bath. No scratches, nothing, he just has an annoyed look on his face. ;D

Hell no Queen you don't have any trouble. I wouldn't either, if I shoved her in the washer. That spin cycle  tends to mellow her out. I still don't know to put the dryer setting on cotton, fine linen or fluff.  :D

LMAO...My cat is slightly confused. I think he thinks he's a dog. He goes to the door when he hears something out in the hallway. Drinks out the toilet. Is very aggressive, I have the scratches to prove it. :D

Awwww I'm gutted I cant get youtube to work...(damn Greek gerbils!)
But the first photie had me in stitches! ;D

The one time I tried to wash my cats - to treat them with some antifungal stuff or something - it took 3 of us. That was a miserable and painful lesson learned very quickly! I opted for just wiping them with the stuff instead, which didn't leave them any more amused. Gave up completely in the end. Couldn't bear the forlorn looks they both kept giving me!

I'm with Stephen on this one: cats are self-cleaning. Here endeth the lesson.

Thank you Ann,

I really needed that.  Yesterday I was very depressed and did not want to get out of bed.  I did get out long enough to take care of some business that had to be attended to, but went back to bed as soon as I got done.  This morning started off the same and I did not want to face the day, at least the video was able to make me laugh and I thank you for that.

Now my 5 kitties are looking at me suspiciously.

Thanks so much for posting that video.  I still am chuckling and I really needed that laugh--I have had such a stressful past few days.  My cats were laying by the computer, but have strangely disappeared.

A former roommate of mine didn't have trouble washing her cat either--she would basicallly start the cat running, throw the cat in the running shower, shut the door, and watch as it frantically tried to get out.  When she finally let the cat out, the cat would usually claw her, but she would laugh as if it were the funniest thing that she was being clawed---that girl wasn't wired right.

..."she would basicallly start the cat running, throw the cat in the running shower, shut the door, and watch as it frantically tried to get out."

...Next time maybe she should try this approach:

1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.

2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water.

3. Obtain the cat and carry him to the bathroom.

4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and
close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so
that he cannot escape).
CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too
close to the edge, as his paws will be
reaching out for anything he can find.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides
a "power wash and rinse" which I have found to be
quite effective.

6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure
that there are no people between the toilet and the
outside door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and
quickly lift both lids.

8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and
run outside.

9. Pick up cat with 5' long BBQ tongs and attach to clothesline...drip dry!

That was hilarious!

Fortunately, the one time I had to bathe Rimbaud, he laid back and accepted it... with an appropriate amount of caterwauling of course... but no scratch attempts or bitings.

He's sort of a fatalist that way.

No, sorry, I decided I wanted to post a couple pictures to go with the link, just to make the post a little more interesting. I always feel oddly slighted when someone posts a You Tube link and nothing else. :D I just Googled "wet suit" and that was the funniest photo that came up.

Anyway, I'm bumping the thread because I wanted to watch the video again... needed a laugh and thought someone else might too.

Hi David
We have a seven year old cat and have never washed the poor dear.
He cleans himself just fine.  Course he is a big "short hair"...not some pedigree piece of fluff like them there longhair cats .

My cat has medium length hair and I would never THINK of putting the poor thing under a water spout!  She does the job of keeping herself clean just fine.

My cousin in Oz has a cat that, every time I went to the loo, insisted on following me in. Then she would jump in the bath and wait for me to turn on the tap, so she could watch and chase the water going down the drain.

SD (who has weird pets)

Wow, and I thought I was the only one with a weird cat! Years ago (20+), one of my cats had a litter of kittens and when they got to be around eight weeks old, one of them used to jump in the bath with me.

I was working on a thoroughbred racehorse breeding farm as a groom and every evening the first thing I'd do was get in a hot, bubbly tub to ease my aching muscles. The kitten in question jumped up on the edge on day and fell in. I thought he'd freak out but he emerged through the bubbles and just looked at me with very wide, surprised eyes.

To my amazement he relaxed and stayed there, floating with his paws barely touching the bottom. After that, I couldn't keep him out! I'd get out of the tub covered in cat hairs. There was no way to keep him out of the bathroom either - there was no proper door, just a curtain. (I've lived in some dives in my day!)

When I found him a home, I made sure he went to someone who took baths more than showers, because it was obvious he loved baths so much. The person who ended up with him (and named him Fish) said he outgrew the habit when he got to be around a year old.

Other than that, I've avoided bathing any of my cats unless it was absolutely necessary because they'd gotten into something yucky.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Ann,

That is too funny.  I am not a big "bath" person.  I personally prefer a shower, but it is fun to take a bath because as soon as he hears the water running he comes running.  And, if I close the bathroom door, he cries outside the door which ruins the point of a relaxing bath.  So, into the tub he jumps, walks around a bit, jumps out, shakes and then off to hide in a corner for a few hours to groom.  I end up having to take a shower after my bath to get rid of all the damn fur.

The difference between an overnight and a layover is luck!
