Well...I have made the difficult decision to leave the clinical trial I am currently enrolled in because of hardships with the clinic that is running it. The new doctor is calling in a new regimen for me...I believe it will be Combivir and Sustiva...

I pick up the new meds tomorrow...wish me luck!!

Good luck studly. That combo is exactly what Jeffrey has been on for a few years now. He's had no issues at all with side effects. He's in a study currently that has had hin off meds for 4 weeks now but if his number changes for the worse he will go back to this combo.
You'll do just fine!

Jeromy, I have a good friend on that combo. He has been on it for almost two years and is doing great. He started with a VL over a million and a CD4 of 70 and has bounced back to undetectable and his latest cd4 was in the 500s. He has had no issues at all. A very tried and true combo so don't fret!

That's the combo I've been on for 5 years now! Actually it's the only combo I've been on! No side effects and only an increase in numbers! You'll do great!

Good luck with this, but one question... why Combivir? With Altripa you'd have just one co-pay and you'd also decrease the chance of mitochondrial damage from AZT.

Well, I have been on Combivir for the past year and a half, so, we don't want to change that, cause I am doing well right now...So the doc feels that the only change should be to the Sustiva...

Thanks everyone! Well...he didn't do the Sustiva, he did the Kaltera instead...so that's good. I just took my new meds tonight, so we will see...and OH MY GOD the co pays are going to break me! Wow...

Combivir and Kaletra have been my witch's brew for the past year and 1/2. The old formula of Kaletra S-U-C-K-E-D...I had to carry it with me in a cooler during the summertime to keep it chilled, and I had to eat fatty foods- lots of 'em- to make 'em work and keep 'em down.

The new formula of Kaletra is the bee's kness, man! No refridgeration, no food requirements- AND you get to take 4 of 'em instead of 6 each day. I am one happy little High-Fiver!
