Just curious how everyone found this place. I heard through my,(in denial) dad.
Know certain search engines bring it up but I've never seen it advertised in uk

My best friend told me to checkout aidsmeds.com the day I got the hiv poz result. I didn't want to read anything about results or meds from the forums before I got the first lab results and some basic talks and explanations from my ID, and I got that today, which is why I started contributing

but still i'm not interested in reading about meds since it would mean nothing to me until i actually need to start taking them; then i'll have zillions of stuff to read!

I came here looking for information about re/superinfection, lurked for a bit and finally posted an introductory thread in June, 2005. I made some friends and found a new home.

I think I was one of the few people actually looking specifically for a forum or a chatroom or something like this. Information wasn't really my priority, I just wanted people to talk to. I forget how long ago it was. Apparently I joined a little bit before Bucko and a little bit after Matty.

Are you still out of bed, Baby-Boi? No wonder you're tired all the time. Staying up and chatting on Teh Interwebs!

Matty the Damned found these forums shortly after he was diagnosed in 2002. He subscribed to the AIDSMEDS mailing list but didn't join the forums at that time. He looked at the blogs instead.

One in March 2005, I clicked on the forums button and here I am.

I found this site quite by accident when I was googling right after my husband's diagnosis in August of 2005. I look back now and realize it was no accident. This is what I truly needed to find on my search.

I read an article in the spanish press about Regan's blog in this site and her appearance on tv giving a public face to hiv which surely may haven broken down quite a few prejudices and stereotypes about this desease that disgracefully still lurks around in too many places.
One thing lead to the other and after a brief browsing around the different contents I became enthusiastic in joining in this, for me so interesting and participative community.
My regrets for my English and best poz wishes for you all who make this site possible

Was included in results when researching lipo/facial wasting. Likely Google. Maybe MSN. Has been so long ago can't remember which search engine. Was it a direct link or indirectly linked? Can't recall that either. <yikes! on the memory thing>

The day I was diagnosed at my local Health dept, I called my local ASO to set up an
'Intake Aapointment' and the lady I spoke with reccomended that I read the lessons available here on AIDSmeds. To answer some of my questions untill I could meet with someone the following day. I honestly couldnt have asked for a better orientation into my 'new life' , and one day after
reading and rereading the Lessons, even the stuff that didnt apply to me, I decided to click the 'FORUMS' button... I believe that the first 2 replies I got were from Jkinatl and Dingo.

I stumbled across Jonathon's Blog... someone sent me a link to one that he wrote. I was moved.
I had been on this site before, but never as a member. I've been a forum junkie elsewhere for quite a while, and find this one to be more important and real.

I was already familiar with AIDSmeds.com as a web site from when it first went up eons ago, as the founders were from NYC and I was living there too at the time. I checked it out a couple of times but I didn't ever pay attention to the forums.

Then when I about to go on TMC-114 drug trial last Spring I wanted to find out more about it, so in googling the subject I ended up here and registered. However, the day I registered there was a LOT of drama because some poster here had tried to commit suicide in a public manner on the board, and it went on for days and came out that it was faked or something I can't recall all the specifics... but it kind of put me off from posting much here for the first four months after registering, unfortunately.

I had used "Check my Meds" and "Graph My Labs" for quite awhile; in summer of '05, I started reading in the forums. Made my intro. post, and settled in.

In Nov '05, a group of us met in Nashville for a mini AMG. I was nervous about going, but it turned out to be a great experience. I made lots of new friends there, and we had a ball.

Not sure how I became "the birthday guy"....in the old forums, Dan used to pose a lot of questions along the lines of "how old are you? and when were you born?" and "where were you born and what year?" I started gleaning and compiling information, and that became the birthday list.

One of the biggest thrills of my life was going to Montreal last summer, to AMG 06. I was truly humbled that everyone asked Jan and me to head up the Memorial Service. I was an experience I will never forget.

We are so fortunate to have friends all over the globe! I never dreamed that at 50 years old I would make so many new friends!

When I first hooked up with my HIV doc shortly after my diagnosis, she recommended a handful of internet sites in case I'd like to look for no-nonsense information and immerse myself deeper into the retroviral matter. That's how I ended up here in the aidsmeds forums.

I was diagnosed in April 2002 and after a year of various combo's, vomiting daily and spending half that time in the loo I realized I couldn't do this on my own, so when I went looking for information and support I found AIDSMEDS and have been here ever since..it will be 4 years in May this year.

Joe was the first one to answer my post and it was becasue of him I stayed, and I don't regret one day of it.

When I googled I never saw a link to this site. Someone from another site that I visit referred me to aidsmeds and here I am. And when I am on that site and someone new comes in I refer them to this site for information. I guess you can call me the equal opportunity plugger........

Well, I went to the site for Poz magazine since I get it in the mail (I have no memory of ever subscribing to that magazine, but it comes faithfully each month). While browsing the site, I happened to read a quote that said "Overheard in the forums." I clicked on that link, found the site, lurked for a bit as a Guest, then actually joined when I wanted to reply to someone and I couldn't reply without joining.

After starting on meds, back in October of 2003, I started googling information as to Hiv medications.I was about to change one of the meds.Thats when I found the original Aidsmeds. Com forums. I read the forums daily, and finally joined just before Chritmas in 2003.
