A couple of DVD rentals
« on: January 07, 2007, 11:30:32 am »
Well I rented and watched two dvd's I had no idea what of if they were good or not. But, ADAM AND STEVE was a surprising good movie. And if you like strange, FREAK OUT was that. Thats all I'll say. Good rentals when you want something different.  ;)

If you want something really strange, try "Prince in Hell" (1993).  It is a German movie.  Good but strange.

I haven't seen Adam and Steve, but it has the love of my life Parker Posey in it... and I really want to see it.

Dissenting voice: it is godawful. I should know better than to rent every new gay-themed movie; I thought I was over that bad habit.
Her finely-touched spirit had still its fine issues, though they were not widely visible. Her full nature, like that river of which Cyrus broke the strength, spent itself in channels which had no great name on the earth. But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.

George Eliot, Middlemarch, final paragraph

I knew there was a reason I dug you!

I must also wholeheartedly recommend Clockwatchers.  Parker Posey AND Toni Collette... it's slow but brilliant...

There is the occasional gay movie I like for example, Holiday Heart, which I liked Ving Rhames in drag, wonders if he took that role after the one scene in Pulp Fiction....j/k...I also liked Flawless with Philip Seymore Hoffman and Robert Deniro, surprised me that he directed or produced it, I forget which. But I also liked Wong Foo and The Birdcage....Are there some other good ones out there?

I joined up with Netflix, so this weekend it was a martial arts movie, The Lone Wolf and Cub, based off the Shogun Assassin movie, which I'm sure many no nothing about. I also got the See No Evil movie, which I love horrors but also got it because I am a huge WWE fan. God, I feel like I'm rambling but I'm just high.... ;D

Speaking of SPUN,  get 'The Salton Sea' with it..  after watching those two back to back you'll never touch Crystal Meth   and if you want WEIRD   get ' No Such Thing '   you dont need to be high to watch this one, but it would greatly enhance its weirdness.
