Incredible Video...

While this video produced by the Topsy Foundation will ultimately invite all sorts of scrutiny, the message is undeniably compelling. Truly amazing.

And this video: Selinah today.
"and the sorrows that I had in my heart are now gone."

I have seen that amazing video before; but not this follow-up. the original ad always makes me think of how so many of my friends looked for a while back in the late 80s and early 90s just before they died. I watched while my first partner wasted away as teh aids killed him, until when he was no longer able to walk, I was able to just pick him up and carry him because he weighted no more than a sack of potatoes. Heck, I remember being in a hospital wasted away to not much more than a bag of skin around some bones myself.

Its why every time I hear someone worried, scared or complaining about having to go onto meds, it just floors me. Don't they understand that the meds quite literally give life back to the dying?

Thanks for posting these links

I must admit when I watched the 90 day video, wasn't sure what I thought or felt.  After watching "Selinah Today" and rewatching the 90 day clip a few times I get it.  The 90 day video is very powerful.

Leatherman, I, for one, hope you keep telling it how it is! You have a unique gift for getting the point across without offense and without belittling those of us who came to the rodeo a little later than others. I appreciate, so much, the perspective of those of you who have lived with this much longer because your insight is incredibly valuable!

I just hope that speaking to my state legislators, in person in two special events next week, about how important (ie life saving) meds are, that they will change their minds about defunding ADAP, underfunding Medicaid, and defunding hospice care which could very well turn South Carolina into something like a third-world nation where I might start seeing my friends (once again) looking like the lady in video when she was sick without medication. ;)

This is a very sobering video and the message comes across loudly and clearly.

I think a visual representation of the hellish effects of this virus speaks more than volumes of text ever could; and this clip captures it as well as delivers it.  WOW!

Very powerful video.  Thanks for sharing.  I wanted to take this opportunity to share a video I've posted here before.  Many of you have probably watched it already.  It is a young girl from Africa with AIDS who Annie Lennox meets when she is very ill.  She was very close to death.  Annie goes back to visit her.  The transformation is awesome.  American Idol showed this video last year.

that video has totally fucked with my head.  Knowing that if I don't take these pills that is a possibility.  I know unlikely but is still some thing that could happen.   I wish I never saw this video.  I am thankful for the second video, but the first one wow.  I can't get it out of my head  wow

I have a friend who always has something negative to say about money spent for Aids in Africa , last night I showed him this video and it totally clanged his perspective about Aids funding .

This is a powerful message about how less than 50 cents a day can impact a persons life . The woman in that video could be a sister , a mother or a wife ... at the very least she is a human being that deserves help and respect .

This is why I'm thankful I have access to this video , because it can save or change a life like it did for my friend who will never again begrudge so little that means so much to another person . It affects us all .

Hey PozJeepGuy,

When I saw that video, it really disturbed me as well. The same thought went through my mind: if I don't take meds, that's what will happen to me. Actually seeing what it does... sigh. I'm extremely grateful that at least I have access to these medications.

Very moving.

It was posted here before but as part of a thread about something else so it's good to give it it's own thread so it gets more attention.
