One supplement you can skip
« on: March 06, 2009, 06:49:21 am »
Yes, I know it's unscientific to draw conclusions from a single individual experience. But still, I thought this anecdotal info was worth sharing.

Last year, I added some AHCC to my supplement combo in mid march. This is really expensive stuff. Even with the heavy discount I had gotten on ebay, the daily cost of taking four NOW AHCC 750mg capsules was about $4 when accounting for everything (taxes, shipping, etc) . That was more $$$/day than all the other supplements I had taken combined - and that's a lot. I took it for 6 weeks. The week before running out of it, I had my labs done on 4/25/2008, and I had my highest VL ever (2739) and still highest to date. The CD4 absolute count had gone up a bit from the previous labs, but was still my 3rd worst at 589 and that remains true. But I have to admit the % was pretty nice at 35%.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I don't think the AHCC addition had any beneficial effect for me, and it certainly wasn't worth its extra cost. I will not waste any money on that one again, that's for sure. If anyone else will admit to having tried it, I would love to hear your experiences :)
