A tattoo parlor asking about HIV status is so '80's!  Either they will still tattoo an individual who checks the box for being HIV+ or they won't.  They're not going to shift into 'extra safe' mode when a pozzie's in the house!  When I got a tattoo last year, I did not check the HIV box, as things were sterile and the tattoo artist was wearing gloves.

I got a piercing the other day, and there was no question about HIV.  Things were in the appropriate sealed packages, gloves were worn the entire time, etc.  Also, it was nice not having a bunch of hoodlum-looking juvies hanging about.  Overall, it was a very nice, clean establishment with a cute piercer.
