Some bad news, from Lisa
« on: July 04, 2009, 07:55:26 pm »
Hi, and Happy 4th of July !

I received a call from Lisa today; she is devastated, because on Monday of this week, while she was away from home for approximately 30-40 minutes, 4 men broke into her home and robbed her of all her electronics (including her computer) and some personal items and family heirlooms.  She is very distraught about this, and wanted me to let everyone know.  She has no idea how she will replace these things, and won't be able to access AIDSmeds, and that is bothering her.

Those of you who know Lisa, now might be a good time to give her a call.   Or pm me for her mailing address.

Hugs,

Alan

Oh, gosh, that is terrible! It's only happened to me once and it created a minor shit-storm in my life. The confusion, the disbelieving and the realization hit all at once when you realize that your personal space and existance has been screwed with this way. The worst is knowing that the people who do this sort of thing don't even want the stuff they're stealing from you.

Any pets to be concerned about?

Have the police done anything? (probably not...)

Lisa, if you get to read this, I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Alan,

Thanks for letting us know. I am so sorry this had to happen. Hope they get the guys that did it, and she gets her possessions returned. If she has pawn shops in her area, she should periodically check, and see if any of her possessions might be in there. It's worth a try.

We've been robbed twice while living here in Florida.  One time ( back in 81) a neighbor called us to tell us someone had entered our living room through the sliding door.( while we were sleeping)  We had an upstairs apartment then. Was also glad to know that the neighbor had dialed 911 immediately, when she seen what these guys were up to. Long story short, when our phone rang, it scared the guys off, and the police were there to get them ! Happy ending, But I often wonder, what would have happenned, if I would have walked into the living room half asleep !

I wonder if she normally leaves her home at the time of day, that this happenned. Someone checking things out,  possible waiting for her to leave.

Hey All,

I just spoke with Lisa and she is in great spirits, considering she just got robbed blind.  What a coincidence that Lisa homes was robbed at the same time of her daughters home.  Bad seed son... I'm just saying.  She sounds wonderful in her new home, on a bluff, overlooking miles of forest.  So much has been going on with her, but I'll let her tell you, when she returns to the forums.

She gives her love to you all.

Edited to add: all the pets are fine.

My first thought was that something had happened to her ferret(s).  I am glad that's not the case, but I'm pissed that someone has done this to her.  Please let her know that she is in my thoughts.

How horrible that she has to go through this after finding such joy in getting her new home.   Please let her know that everyone on the forums are thinking about her.

Poor Lisa,
This really sucks. She just doesn't deserve this, but at least she is OK and was not hurt. Thank God for that.
When I read your headline, I thought oh no, did her t-4's drop?

So not the worse news, I guess. She is such a wonderful person!

Bad seed son...

Funny you should say that, he was the first person who sprang to mind when I read this thread. Poor Lisa! She deserves so much better.

Lisa, when you read this, please know I've been thinking of you.

Hugs,
Ann
