Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Insertive oral sex and HIV :S

Hi everybody,

I post here because some days ago I had a random encounter with a guy I didn't know at all. Late on our date he practiced oral sex on me, meaning I received a 3-4 minutes blow job from him and I finally ended up ejaculating inside his mouth. I am really very worried on the fact that I could have been infected with HIV. I wonder what are the real chances I have that this could have happened and what are the steps I must follow from now on.

Oral sex is not a risk for HIV infection.  There are various proteins and enzymes in saliva that render HIV unable to infect.  The no-risk does not change even when there is ejaculation.

The risk factors for HIV are ...

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.

Use condoms for vaginal and anal sex consistently and correctly and you will avoid HIV infection, it is that simple.

Many thanks Joe for your so quick answer.
All that I needed was a consised answer like this. :).
I always was warned not to look in the internet for any answer concerning my own health and go to a doctor instead. But in this case because I was desperate for an answer I read lots of information where in 99,9% of the cases (people and different studies) they assume yet there's a little risk of infection for these practises.
It is so good to know now that, concerning HIV, oral sex is 100% safe.
