I'm not sure what state you are located.  I was diagnosed in Jan 2012 and my IM Doc informed me that anybody can get free hiv treatment/meds.  Hope it helps...

2/8/12  CD4 316 VL- 62K (15%)
4/24/12 CD4 - 333 VL-33K (22.3%)
5/8/12   CD4 - 419 VL - 124  (23.1%)
5/22/12 CD4 - 456 VL - 30  (24.5%)
6/19/12 CD4 - 593 VL - >20 (26.1%)
7/17/12 CD4 - 463 VL - >20 (28.1%)

I live in Virginia, and thanks for advice.  My numbers from two months on meds are great CD4 590 and v ud.  Still in contact with drug companies, but very hopeful.

that is not really true. You need to have insurance, medicare, medicaid, or assistance from an agency (like an ASO) to get medications. ADAP can also help pay insurance, med costs, and co-pays. But, no one in America gets FREE hiv meds.  ::) Even the ACA (affordable care act aka obamacare) doesn't provide free medications.

to the OP, you can check with a local ASO or Ryan White agency to see if you're eligible for ADAP (AIDS Drugs Assistance Program) help, or you can check with the pharma website for your medications as all of them offer co-pay assistance.

Both your meds have patient assistance programs, get your doc on the case

My insurance will run out very soon, I live in Virginia, so more problems.  My ID is helping set up meds for the rest of the year.  Should know at the end of this month what I can do, can not afford to pay 2500.00 per month.
how come your insurance is running out? Are you unemployed now? Can't afford cobra?

If your doctor is not part of an ASO that assists patients with obtaining Ryan White/ADAP or medicaid, you should really get in contact with an ASO and a case manager to help get assistance to get medications. ;) Losing insurance and going to self-pay is a very tough problem unless you can get medicaid or SS disability. If you will be self-pay you can just contact those pharma companies yourself to apply for their co-pay help and/or their patient assistance programs for after your insurance expires.

Don't put this off too long. Get some sort of assistance now (co-pay help while you have insurance) so that you'll already be getting into the system for when your insurance runs out. If you wait too long, you may sadly find yourself without meds for some time until things get worked out.

Good luck! :D

Thanks Leatherman and Newt,  I live in the boonies and travel far for my ID doc, but I do have someone there helping me.  Used co-pay cards for meds, and now trying to get help for the rest of the year until insurance rolls back around.  They say not to panic, so I am not, YET!  Appreciate all the advice and knowledge!
